home history garden location house what's on
An earlier Robert Morgan had a special royal dispensation to wear a bonnet in the King's presence "for diverse infirmities which he hath in his hedde". Robert's father had a similar royal licence to keep his hat on in 1522.

There used to be an inscription in the hall as follows:

Robert Morgan and Mary his wife
Built this house in their own lifetime
At their own charge and cost.
What they spent, that they lent,
What they gave, that they have,
What they left, that they lost.
