Castle Theatre, Durham are performing Shakespeare’s The Tempest
In July 2008 Castle Theatre Company will bring all the magic and surreal comedy
of Shakespeare’s masterpiece The Tempest to Mapperton.
A tranquil sea. A ship of political masters and their servants. Suddenly, out of
the blue, a storm erupts. They miraculously survive and find themselves on an
island ruled by the mysterious Prospero. Why are they there? Who is Prospero?
What is the purpose of his magic powers?
Filled with beautiful poetry, surreal comedy and deeply felt emotion,
Shakespeare’s late, great masterpiece transports us from our real world to a
mystical place where something rich and strange awaits.
Bring a rug, bring a chair, bring a picnic, and let us liberate your senses.
